About us

Creative Industries Trafford (CIT) was established in 2004 and is based at Waterside Arts Centre in Sale, Trafford.

The project’s objectives are to increase the productivity and artistic quality of the creative sector and to improve business survival rates. This is done through training workshops, exhibition and selling opportunities, networking events and masterclasses from leading artists across a number of fields.

Among the highlights so far are masterclasses from Chris Shepherd (animator, Slinky Pics), Benedict Campbell (hyper-realist digital artist), Chris Bowden (animator, Mackinnon & Saunders) and  an arts auction with guest auctioneer Eric Knowles (Antiques Roadshow).

CIT worked with Puma Events & Training to develop Navigating MediaCityUK, a series of networking events bringing MediaCityUK’s main players together with the creative sector of Greater Manchester.

CIT also facilitates a visual artists’ network and works in conjunction with Waterside’s exhibitions team to support visual artists, designers and craftmakers. We also work regularly with Castlefield Gallery to deliver portfolio sessions for visual artists.

Creative Industries Trafford is supported by Trafford Council and Arts Council England. We support fair fees and copyright retention for artists.
